Black Atlantic

| Cambridge, UK

The gallery lighting design for the temporary exhibition "Black Atlantic: Power, People, Resistance" at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge is strategically curated across three historical galleries. This exhibition serves as a poignant remembrance of the tragic slave trade that operated in the Atlantic Ocean following the discovery of the Americas. The galleries, home to a wealth of light-sensitive artefacts, are divided into distinct sections. Each section is meticulously illuminated, considering both technical requirements and the emotional content of the displays. Our goal is to not only showcase the historical significance of the artefacts but also to create a nuanced and evocative atmosphere that enhances the visitor's understanding and connection to this critical part of history.
